Leaders Advance in Round 2 of Scarbro Caro Bowl
Three teams in both the men’s and women’s Scarbro Bowl competition broke away from the rest of the pack after the second round of play last Friday evening.
In the men’s, Cockle Bay won both the doubles but split the singles to beat last year’s runners-up Parnell 4-2. Defending champs Blockhouse Bay comfortably beat Remuera 5-1 to sit atop the table alongside Cockle Bay and Royal Oak. The Royal Oak team accounted for Blockhouse Bay 2 while Kohimarama slipped past Pompallier 4-2.
The women’s competition was a similar story. Defending champs Sunnyhills downed Pompallier to move into first place just one point ahead of Parnell who beat Remuera 4-2. Royal Oak is in equal second place after beating Royal Oak 2 without losing a match. Kohimarama settled into a mid-table spot by beating Parnell 2.
Round 3 and 4 matches are scheduled this Friday night and on Sunday afternoon. This will be the first time that the competition has been played on a Sunday.
