The Scarbro Caro Bowl competition has reached the penultimate semi-final stage and the matches scheduled to be played on Friday night promise to be very closely fought. It is very hard to pick an eventual winner in the men’s or women’s events and it is fairly safe to say that the contests will go down to the wire.
In the men’s semis, pool group winner Cockle Bay host 4th placed Royal Oak. Cockle Bay were undefeated in pool play and head into this match as clear favourites after convincingly beating the Oak team in the round robin earlier in the season. In a repeat of last year’s final, Parnell host Blockhouse Bay in what should be a thrilling encounter. Parnell won their round robin match but both teams will be at full strength on Friday with the likes of Micheal Venus, Finn Tearney and Artem Sitak expected to play.
The women’s semis should be close affairs if the round robin was any indication. Final pool group placings were determined on a countback of sets after Sunnyhills, Royal Oak and Parnell finished dead even on points. Sunnyhills had the better differential and play host to Pompallier at St Kents on Friday as they seek to win their third consecutive title. Royal Oak finished second and will host perennial rival Parnell in what promises to be a thriller.
All matches start at 6pm on Friday November 27th and good crowds are expected at each venue.
