The Parnell Tennis Club will host both the Men’s and Women’s Scarbro Caro Bowl finals on Friday night after winning semi final encounters last week. Parnell defeated Cockle Bay 5-1 in front of a large crowd to earn a spot in the men’s final where they meet Blockhouse Bay. The two doubles matches were decided by super tiebreaks with each team winning one before Parnell claimed the first three singles matches to take an insurmountable lead. Mark Nielsen, Alistair Hunt and Steve Downs all won their matches and they will call on their combined experience in the final. Blockhouse Bay reached the final for the third straight year with a hard fought 4-2 victory over Remuera. Adam Thompson won a crucial three setter against Ricky McLachlan to earn the vital point needed to beat the Remuera side.
Sunnyhills is through to the women’s final for the second year in a row after defeating Royal Oak 4-2. Sacha Jones reversed last weeks result against Leela Beattie to win in three sets and Paige Hourigan scored a good win over Abigail Guthrie. Parnell were too good for Pompallier in the other semi winning the contest 4-2 courtesy of two doubles victories and singles points won by Pavlina Nola and Kairangi Vano.
The Scarboro Caro Bowl finals are scheduled at the Parnell Tennis Club on Friday December 6th with the matches starting at 6pm.
