Congratulations to Tennis Auckland region players who have been recognised for their hard work and talent with inclusion into teams to represent New Zealand at the 2021 Australian Junior Teams events.
The events are a major event on the Australasian calendar and is the first chance many young players have to represent New Zealand. The events will take place at the KDV Sport Arena on the Gold Coast, with the 11U and 13U competitions taking place from 25-29 June, followed by the 15U competition from 1-4 July.
Inclusion in the squads comes after the players attended recent Tennis NZ Performance Training Camps which put the players through their paces and tested their physical and mental development and performance.
Tennis Auckland Regional Performance Manager James Greenhalgh is pleased with the selection of 10 Auckland players into the squad.
“We’re really happy for the players to make the squads as it’s a reflection of how hard they’ve worked on their game and the performances that they’ve put on court. All the players selected have played for the Tennis Auckland region with pride at the recent NZ National Junior Teams event, and we’re thrilled for them to be able to take this next step in their tennis careers. It’s a great recognition for the players, their coaches and wider support teams.” said Greenhalgh.
Age Group Squad members Aishi Das and Sasha Situe, along with fellow Auckland representative Jack Chapman, are also part of a touring squad who’ve recently landed in Australia and are playing in a series of events, starting with the ITF J5 Darwin Junior International Tournament. The touring squad is under the watchful eyes of Tennis NZ Performance Director Chistophe Lambert and NZ Davis Cup Captain Alistair Hunt.
