Blockhouse Bay sit at the top of the Men’s Scarbro Caro Bowl points table after posting a comfortable 6-0 win over defending champs Parnell in round three last Friday. Parnell beat Blockhouse Bay in the final last year but was no match for the GD Jones led Blockhouse Bay team this time. Kohimarama recorded it’s third straight win beating Parnell 2 by 5 matches to 1 and moved into second place. Remuera won a close contest against Royal Oak to slip into fourth place while last year’s semi-finalist Cockle Bay hover in 3rd place after beating Pompallier without the loss of a match.
The women’s competition is tied at the top with defending champs Sunnyhills on 21 points alongside 2012 champions Royal Oak. Sunnyhills beat Glendowie 6-0 and Royal Oak downed Parnell 2 by a 5-1 scoreline last week to move into equal first on the points standings. Pompallier squeaked past Kohimarama on a countback after matches were shared at 3-3 and Parnell 1 comfortably beat the youthful Remuera side 6-0.
The Scarbro Caro Bowl competition has almost reached the midway point in pool play this season and teams are jostling for a berth in the semi-finals. The 4th round of play is scheduled for Friday October 31st at 6pm.
