An opportunity to lead a Sports organisation with an international profile

Tennis Auckland is a regional sports organisation with a focus on growing Auckland’s love of tennis and inspiring participation.  The organisation is focussed on delivering on this through its network of owned and operated facilities, its club network, and providing opportunities to play at all levels.  Ensuring tennis has a strong brand and profile in Auckland is another key driver, which is led through the delivery of the ASB Classic Women’s and Mens international tournaments, as well as supporting club and facility initiatives to deliver great tennis experiences.

The Chief Executive reports to an 8 member Board and leads a team of 12. The organisation has undergone some change recently in order to align itself to its new strategic plan and to position itself and the ASB Classic in a post covid world.   Tennis Auckland is committed to running the ASB Classic in January 2022, with planning well underway.  Phase 1 of the ASB Tennis Arena redevelopment (The Yock Stand) has been completed and Phase 2 (The Robinson Stand) is scheduled to commence in Feb 2022.

The strategic initiatives being undertaken by Tennis Auckland will require the CE to be involved in project management, as well as fundraising, sponsorship, and key stakeholder relationships.

We are seeking a CE who has experience reporting to a Board, can harness and successfully manage a wide range of stakeholders (Major Sponsors, Local and Central Government, Regional Clubs and premise operators), and provide strong commercial acumen across the key projects and activities being undertaken by the organisation. This is a leadership and culture role that also requires someone who can deliver projects from the Strategic Plan.
