Wet and windy weather last Friday night did not stop players from completing round two of the Scarbro Caro Bowl competition. Blockhouse Bay moved into the top of the table position after beating Royal Oak 5-1. The youthful Kohimarama side backed up a first round win by beating Pompallier on a countback of sets after matches were locked at 3-3. Kohi is just 2 points adrift of Blockhouse Bay in second place on the leaderboard. Parnell 1 bounced back from an opening loss to defeat Cockle Bay on a countback in a very evenly contested match. Former NZ Davis Cup player Mark Neilsen beat National 18’s champ Kyle Butters in one of the more interesting match ups. The final match in the Men’s competition saw Remuera defeat Parnell 2 by a comfortable 5-1 margin.
Royal Oak women top the table after two rounds of pool play following a decisive 5-1 win over Pompallier. In a repeat of last years final Sunnyhills defeated Parnell 1 but the final score was closer than the previous season with Sunnyhills clinching the win on countback. Kohimarama soundly defeated Remuera and Glendowie drew with Parnell 2.
The next round of Scarbro Caro Bowl matches will be played on October 17th
