In the Penultimate Round of Scarbro Caro Bowl Pool Play Parnell beat Blockhouse Bay
Remuera moved to the top of the table after round six of the Scarbro Caro Bowl men’s competition when they beat Royal Oak 4-2 last Friday night. Parnell defeated Blockhouse Bay by the slimmest of margins after matches were split 3-3 and sets were even. The two bonus points went to Parnell by one single game on count back to keep them in 4th place with a semi final berth secured. There are only six points separating the top four teams with a round to go so the teams will be playing for semi final hosting rights in the last round of pool play this Friday. The remaining two men’s games last week saw Cockle Bay down Kohimarama without losing a match and Pompallier doing the same against Remuera who are relegation bound.
The Scarbro Caro Bowl women’s matches were fairly clear cut in round six play with Sunnyhills comfortably beating Remuera 6-0 led by WTA ranked players Sacha Jones and Stephanie Bengson. Royal Oak played at full strength with Leela Beattie, Abigail Guthrie and Claudia Williams leading the charge. The battle of the bays match between Kohimarama and Glendowie was won by Kohi 4-2 and with just the one round remaining they are both several points clear of the bottom placed Remuera side.
Feature matches this Friday are Royal Oak versus Sunnyhills in the women and Blockhouse Bay against Remuera in the men.
