It’s finals time for the 2015 Scarbro Caro Bowl this Friday night and both the Men’s and Women’s matches should be very evenly contested. Cockle Bay is through to the Men’s Final for the first time in its short history in the competition but they will be up against it when they host defending champs Blockhouse Bay. The Cockle Bay side were undefeated in pool play this year and will be fighting hard to protect their winning record and claim their first title. Artem Sitak is expected to lead the Blockhouse Bay title defence and GD Jones should be brimming with confidence after upsetting NZ’s highest ranked male Finn Tearney in last week’s semi-final encounter.
Sunnyhills is going for the three-peat when they take on Parnell in the Women’s Final to be played at St Kentigern’s College. This is a repeat of last year’s final won by Sunnyhills and Parnell will be highly motivated to reverse that result and deny the Sunnyhills team a third straight title victory. Parnell won their round robin clash a couple of weeks ago but this probably won’t have too much of a bearing on Friday’s outcome.
Matches start at 6pm this Friday and in the event of wet weather the contests will be moved to Scarbro Tennis Centre if courts at host venues become unplayable.
