With one round of pool play remaining the Sunnyhills women’s team lead the Scarbro Caro Bowl competition. The defending champs swept aside Parnell 2 last Friday without losing a match to take a one point lead over second placed Royal Oak going into the final round this Friday. Royal Oak went down to Parnell 1 in a closely fought battle by 4 matches to 2 and this means that Parnell 1 sit closely behind the leaders in third place. Kohimarama convincingly beat eastern suburbs neighbour Glendowie 6-0 and currently lie fourth in the standings but only two points clear of Pompallier who notched up a 5-1 victory over bottom of the table Remuera.
In the Scarbro Caro Bowl men’s competition, runaway leaders Blockhouse Bay downed Parnell 2 without losing a match and Royal Oak slipped past Cockle Bay into second position after beating them 4-2 on Friday night. Parnell 1, after a sluggish start to the season, is currently in fourth place but has won its last three matches with a full strength side. On Friday Parnell 1 led by Michael Venus was too strong for bottom of the table Pompallier. Kohimarama downed Remuera 5-1 and lie fifth on the table which gives the club a mathematical chance of qualifying for the semis after the final round of pool play this Friday.
The last round of Scarbro Caro Bowl matches will be played at various club venues on Friday November 21 with all matches scheduled to start at 6pm. Semi-finals are scheduled for Friday November 28th with the finals to be played on Friday 5th December.
